US Maritime Commission approved selling freighters to Ireland according to the Dutch newspaper Dagblad van het Zuiden dated 27 November 1941

An item dated Washington 25 November. The Maritime Commission of the House of Representatives allowed the Federal shipping authorities to sell two 22 years old cargo ships to the Irish government. Both ships were to be used for transport food supplies from the USA to Ireland.
