British steam ship Ardova seized by Russia according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 26 July 1904

An item reported that the British steamship Ardova with on board a Russian prize crew and flying the Russian war flag arrived at Suez stating that she was underway towards Russia. The British cruiser HMS Venus anchored near by the seized steamboat.(1)

1. A protected cruiser laid down on 28 June 1894 at the yard of Fairfiled Shipbuilding&Engineering, Govan, launched on 5 September 1895, completed on 9 November two years later and sold on 22 September 1921 to be broken up. Her main armament consisted of 5-15,2cm/6” guns.
