Explosion on board of the Austrian torpedo boat Adler according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 25 July 1899

An item reported that on board of the Austrian torpedo boat Adler near Curzola in the Adriatic Sea a boiler exploded causing the death of five men while two others were wounded. The ship was heavily damaged.(1)

1. Launched in December 1884 at the British shipyard Yarrow, London, stricken 1911 (other sources 1914), sister ship Falke. With a displacement of 95-100 tons were her dimensions 41,2 x 4,2 x 1,7 metres, the 1.300 hp allowed a speed of 22 knots, a crew numbering 16 men and she was armed with 2 bow torpedo tubes and further 2x3.7cm quick firing guns
