An item reported that off Asteria, Oregon on board of the American torpedo boat Davis boiler tubes were exploded causing the death of four sailors while another three were wounded.(1)

The TB-12 of which the building at the shipyard of Wolf&Zwicker, Portland was ordered on 10 June 1896, laid down on 2 March a year later, launched on 4 June 1898, again a year later on 10 May commissioned, decommissioned on 28 March 1913 and finally sold on 21 April 1920. With a displacement of 155 tons and as dimensions 45,11 x 4,67 x 1,78 metres or 148’x 15’4”z 5’10”. With a speed of 23 knots, a crew numbering 24 men was she armed with 3x1pd guns and 3-18”/45,7 cm torpedo tubes.
