An item referred to the magazine M.R. dated October 1938 reporting that at the Kawasaki shipyard at Kobe on 5 August the gunboat Dhonburi (2.265 ton) was launched in the presence of the premier of Thailand and several Japanese navy authorities. There were plans to built 2 school ships and further more 2-5.000 ton cruisers in Italy.
