An item reported that the French naval staff wanted to prevent to loose the arms race with Germany and England and so she wanted to built 3-20.000/21.000 ton battleships. The opinions about the armament however were divided namely 12-30,5cm guns or 8-30,5cm and 8-24cm guns or 16-27,4cm guns or 20-24cm guns.
