British admiralty testing new torpedo according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1900-1901 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht reporting that the British admiralty was studying the plans for a submarine (torpedo?) invented by M. Howard. It was possible to delay the torpedo exploding after the launching to able the submarine to get in safety. For this reason the submarine was to be moved easily for- and afterwards. The reporter thought that presumably the torpedo was a so-called shock torpedo.

A second item referred also to the magazine Le Yacht reporting that important and successful tests were accomplished with electrically although wireless controlling torpedoes from a certain point. For the tests was a model on smaller scale used with a length of 1,22 metres. Inventor of this new kind of torpedo was M. Varicas
