Dutch screw motor tanker Poseidon 1914-1942


Netherlands-flagged, IMO 5603798 and international callsign TFKW. Built in1914 at the shipyard of Smith Docks&Co., Middlesbrough with yard number 575 for account of the Nederlandsch Indische Tank Stoomboot Maatschappij. Dimensions 185’4” x 30’6” x 12’3”. Tonnage gross 696 and net 378. Steel-built. Cargo capacity200.740 cubic feet. Loading capacity 3.175 tons. On 3 June 1942 scuttled at Tilijap to prevent capture by the Japanese forces, however salvaged and repaired and commissioned in Japanese service as the Hosei Maru. On 10 April 1945 destroyed with gunfire by the Dutch submarine O 19 in the Sunda Straits.
