An item dated Sas van Gent the 17th reported that the large German Rhine barges coming from Belgium were towed by small tugs to the border. These tugs were commanded by captains completely in feldgrau uniforms similar to soldiers even with belts and high boots. Ships destined for Belgium were at the border handed over by Dutch tugs to these German tugs.
