Singapore, 3 May. During a dinner of the Straits Settlement Association said Gore (1) that the expenses for the naval base were almost completely paid by taxpayers in England. This was quite an important statement while there was quite a lot of discussion within the British dominions in this area. With other words the residents of Singapore were not to face higher expenses as a result of the new base.
