This newspaper reported
that the United States used
on a large scale with success floating fleet bases in their operations in the South Sea
against Japan.
These floating bases were fitted out with dry docks, workshops and storages of
victuals and fuel and manned with 12,000 workmen living in a floating hotel.
The victuals were enough to feed a city of 100.000 citizens during 3 months and
to supply 3000,000 cars with petrol.
