British and Japanese naval bases in the Far East according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 24 March 1934

London, 22 March. The travelling correspondent of the newspaper Daily Express reported that Japanese spies were active at the British naval base at Singapore and that Japan intended to construct a channel through the isthmus of Kra, south of Burma for the purpose of an own naval base.
