The armament of American merchant ships according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 6 October 1941

An item reported that according to the International News Service a representative of the Federal Shipping Agency at New York announced that between the twelve and twenty of the American ships now British or Panamanian flagged were already armed. A continuously expanding number of the 125 were armed and used on the sea lanes in the war zones.
