Dom Pedro I
London, 21 February. A Brazilian 20-gun sloop of war was lost 29 September 1826 in a storm. The newspaper Courier published some tidings received from Rio Janeiro dated 1 December 1826. The Brazilian fleet consisted of the 74-gun Dom Pedro I, a new frigate and a sloop of war and some transports with the emperor and 2.000 soldiers on board departed towards Rio Grande. The fleet of the united republics [Buenos Aires] consisted of the Macedonian, the corvette Cyane and the sloop of war Boston. The Rio Plata was still blockaded.
Paris, 23 February. A letter coming from Calamos and written by Mr. Zavos reported that two Turkish ships were captured by the Greeks off Patras. A Greek squadron consisting of 35 ships and the steamship Perseverance was at Kattacolas.
