French navies blockaded the coasts of Mexico and the Argentinean Republic according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 June 1838

Via England arrived tidings that the French navy started 1 April with blockading the ports of the Argentinean Republic or at least Montevideo. Neutrals ships were allowed to depart until 10 May. From Toulon arrived tidings dated 31 May that there 6 war corvettes were fitted out to strengthen the French squadron which blockaded the Mexican coast.
