The
Huis te Foreest, Krabbendijk and Patmos were sent towards China. The first two
ships were to return from China directly towards the Netherlands, while the
third had to return via Batavia. On board was for instance 1.200.000 lb pepper,
250.lll lb Bangka tin and 93.097
lb sandel wood of Malabar. There was also 173.368 lb cotton from
Surat and 2.084 lb
cotton from Kotta and areka nuts on board. The latter three new products were
sent directly from Cochin towards Canton using a Portuguese ship. The
commissaries were ordered to use the demand out of the Netherlands for the year
1743, while the demand for 1743 wasn’t available. When the Huis te Marquette
arrived 2 July still with the 1743 demand, she was sent in double with the
Portuguese small ship Nossa Senhora de Emparo and the British Augusta. It was
ordered to do everything that the demand for a certain year arrived before the departure
towards China, to be sure that the wanted stores arrived the same year in the
Netherlands. The ships returning to the Netherlands were to transport porcelain
as under layer.
