The Egyptian, Greek and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 11 November 1824

Augsburg, 3 November. The newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung published a tiding dated Odessa 17 October according to which captain Basilio arrived 10 October with news dealing with the last fights at sea. After the fight on 7 October near Mitylene fled the fleet commanded by the Captain Pasha hastily to the Dardanelles and anchored off the defence works. At that moment she just existed of the admirals’ ship, 1 frigate and 10 or 12 smaller warships. The admiral stated that some ships of the Egyptian fleet still were fighting with the Greek fleet but that the others managed to escape.
