Canadian Pacific Railway Company refused to sell ships Tartar and Athenian to the USA according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 28 April 1898

An item reported that the Canadian Pacific Railway refused the sell the steamships Tartar and Athenian to the US government to be converted into (auxiliary) cruisers.(1) The two ships were recently bought in England.
