According to a telegram left the brig le Lancier (1) commanded by frigate captain Russel 29 May Saint Malo. She was one of the vessels responsible for the protection of the cod fishery off the coasts of Terreneuve. The commissary of navy at Saint Malo reported that not all fishermen there were interested in the escorting, according to him a prove of their trust in the taken measures. From Marseilles came the tidings that le Trident (2) cruising off the Catalonian coasts and before the Balearic Islands approached 14 May Barcelona for manoeuvres with the other ships blockading this city.
