The British, Greek and Turkish navies in the Levant versus Greek pirates according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 25 June 1823

London, 21 June. Lloyds received a letter from Zante dated 6 May according to which the Greek blockade of the Bay of Patras and Corinthe was ended since 20 April and that the government of the Ionian islands supplied health certificates for Patras. Despite the cruising of a Turkish squadron between Zante and Patras the passage was still unsafe due to some pirates which all ready captured some sloops flying Ionian and Austrian flags. Until now none British ships was harassed and the British warships in these waters did their utmost best.
