According to the extra ordinary correspondence from Paris dated 17 September received the government tidings that the Pasha of Egypt Mehemed-Ali was persuaded by France and the United Kingdom to forget his declaration of independence from the Ottoman Empire. All ready were rich gifts send by him to the sultan and his fleet was ordered back to Alexandria to be disarmed and unrigged. The French squadron commanded by Gallois which watched the movements of the Egyptian and Turkish fleets in the Mediterranean was now allowed to return to Toulon and would probably send to the Mexican coast. The French government however wanted also to end the disputes with Mexico. The French trade with America had hardly to fear from Mexican privateers while it was mostly using North American ships and the commanding officers of the French blockade squadron were behaving quite moderate while inspecting.
