The Greek and Turkish navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 2 September 1824

Bucharest, 7 August. The common post of Constantinople dated 26 July but arrived not earlier as 4 August reported that the Greek recaptured Ipsara and that the Captain Pasha was blockaded at Mitylene. Since yesterday evening when couriers passed the city towards Vienna there are rumours that the Captain Pasha left Mitylene but was defeated by the Greek while losing the largest part of his fleet.

Augsburg, 26 August. The newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung published a tiding of Trieste dated 18 August. A vessel arriving 6 July coming from Alexandria reported that the expedition commanded by Ibrahim Pasha consisting of 150 vessels and destined towards Greece still wasn’t depart and it was believed that this wasn’t to happen before 1 August.
