Dutch frigate Zr.Ms. Prins van Oranje to be fitted out for a voyage according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 2 February 1850

An item dated Den Helder, Netherlands 26th reported that the 1st officer of the Dutch frigate Zr.Ms. Prins van Oranje captain lieutenant B.E. Stort would be replaced on 15th February by captain lieutenant G.C. Zoutman. The frigate was to be fitted out against 1 March to depart for a voyage.(1)

1. The former Waal, frigate, 1st class, Department Rotterdam, on stocks by P. Glavimans Jz. at naval yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands in August 1828, launched on 16 May 1840, renamed Prins van Oranje in 1844, guard ship, sold to be broken up in 1897, dimensions 54 (loadline)x 14,00 (inner hull x 5,8 (fore)-6,3 (aft) x 7,13 (hold below upper deck) metres. 2481 tons displacement, 60 (peace: 30-30pd guns, 30-30pd carronades, 2-12pd guns)-70 (war) guns and a sail area 2170m2.
