Italian navy possessed 72 motor torpedo boats according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1939 no. 10

An item referred to the magazine R.M. dated August 1939 reporting that according to the Almanacco Navale the Italian navy numbered 72 motor torpedo boats, consisting of 6-12 ton, speed 26 knots, 6-12,5 ton, speed 45 knots, 1-15 ton, speed 45 knots, 2-16 ton, speed 45 knots, 4-35,5 ton, speed 36 knots, 25-20 ton, speed 47 knots and 28-20 ton, speed 47 knots. All boats were armed with 1-2 machineguns, 2-45cm torpedo tubes and a depth charger. Furthermore was 1-50 ton motor torpedo boat the Stefano Türr, length 32 metres, armed with 2 machineguns and a speed of 34 knots.
