Brazilian warships Republica and Tiradentes launched at Newcastle, England according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1892-1893 no. 5

An item referred to the magazine Engineering reporting the launching on 26 May of the -Brazilian cruisers Republica and Tiradentes at the shipyard of Armstrong Mitchell&Co., Newcastle, United Kingdom. The Republica (10 had a displacement of 1.300 ton and as dimensions 69 x 10,5 x 3.9 (medium) cm. Horsepower 3.300 hp and with forced draft a speed of 17 miles. The armament consisted of 4-12cm guns, 4-6pd guns, 6 machineguns and 4 torpedo tubes. The Tiradentes (2) had a displacement of 800 ton and as dimensions 53 x 9 x 3,2 (medium) metres. Horsepower 1.200 ihp and with forced draught a speed of 14,5 miles. The armament consisted of 4-12cm guns, 3-6pd guns, 4 machineguns and 2 torpedo tubes.

1. Protected cruiser, launched on 26 may 1892, completed in September 1894 and finally disarmed in 1920. Converted into a minelayer in 1898. Renamed Quinze de Novembro.
2. Torpedo gunboat laid down in 1891, launched on 26 May 1893, completed in 1893 and stricken in July 1925.
