Russian Admiralty purchasing new type Whitehead torpedoes according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 5

An item reported that the Russian Admiralty decided to purchase a new type of Whitehead torpedoes in many ways resembling the French model 1909 R. This torpedo had a diameter of 45cm, a length of 5,5 metres and an explosive charge with a weight of 125 kilo. The speed of the torpedo was at 2 kilometres 43 miles and at 5 kilometres still 30 miles. The torpedo performed very well and was easy to handle. According to rumours was she superior to the one produced by the German navy at Kiel, Germany.
