An item reported that the following auxiliary ships purchased in the war (1) were examined by a commission and proposed to be sold: tugs Apache, Chickasaw, Cheyenne, Choctaw, Seminole and Waban; yachts Dorothea, Enquirer, Elfrida, Hawk, Huntress, Inca, Oneida, Restless, Siren, Stranger, Sylvia, Viking, Shearwater and Aileen; colliers Cassius and Scipio; the vessel East Boston, torpedo boat Manly and store ship Supply. To be kept: colliers Alexander, Caesar, Justin, Lebanon, Marcellus, Pompey, Southerby, Scindia and Abarenda, [auxiliary] cruiser Badger, Buffalo, Dixie, Yankee, Hector, Iris, Prairie, Panther and Resolute, tugs Pontiac. Humberto Rodriquez, Piscatagua, Wompatuck, Peoria, Mohawk, Osceola and Tecumseh, yachts Rainbow, Restless, Yankton, Scindia, Buccaneer, Eagle, Frolic, Gloucester and Hornet, steam lighters Alice and Pawnee, water tender Arethusa, store ships Niagara and Celtic and the hospital ship Solace.
