Italian submarine Foca after intensive repairs decommissioned according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 5

An item reported that the Italian submarine Foca which on 26 April [1909] the year before partly was destroyed by a petrol explosion in the harbour of Naples, Italy was recently launched at the shipyard Fiat San Georgio, La Spezia, Italy after 7 months of repairs. On 19 March was with the trials started and was she afterwards added to the submarine flotilla at Venice, Italy. The depth tests were executed on a depth of 30 instead of 40 metres while it was feared that the explosion weakened her hull. The gasoline pipes and tanks were totally altered.(1)
