New society for promoting merchant shipping at Moscow, Russia founded according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1873 no. 1-2

An item reported that at Moscow, Russia a new society was founded which was to support the Russian merchant shipping. Subsidized by the government was the intention to use training ships and schools for sailors. Already 4 schools existed namely in Kurland, Livonia, the government of St. Petersburg and at the White Sea. Along the Black Sea, Caspian See and Sea of Azov coasts were such institutions still lacking. Some upper class persons joined the new society.
