The Albanian naval bases according to a CIA report dated 21 December 1948

An item reported that the Naval general directorate was stationed at Vlone and directly subordinate to the Ministry of National Defence. The base there had harbour suitable for medium tonnage ships and medium sized coastal sailing vessels and a landing place for seaplanes. At Durres was a 250 metres long pier available for coastal sailing vessels and a pier for medium tonnage warships planned. At Himare were submarine pens and underwater bases under construction and supervised by Soviet and Yugoslavian engineers and technicians. Personnel strength of the Albanian navy was around 500 men.
