Pearl-class
An item reported that the British cruiser 3rd class HMS Wallaroo (1) visited Ambon, Moluccas, Dutch East Indies on 19 July 1900.(2)

1. Pearl-class cruiser. Laid down as HMS Persian by Armstrong Whitworth, Elwick, Tyne and Wear, England on 15 August 1888, launched on 5 February 1890, renamed Wallaroo on 2 April 1890, served on the Australia station, mechanics training ship after 1906. Guard ship since November 1914, renamed Wallington in March 1919 and sold to be broken up in 1920.
2. The newspaper Soerabaijasch handelsblad dated 20 July 1900 reported that the British Asiatic squadron was strengthened by the aged gunboat HMS Lizard and cruisers Mohawk and Wallaroo.
