Turkish parliament approved budget for new building several warships according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1910 No. 4

An item reported that the Turkish parliament approved a budget of 5 million Turkish pound for the period of 10 years necessary for building 2 battleships, 3 cruisers and 10 destroyers. Turkish newspapers reported that all family members of the sultan gifted money for the new building followed by numerous higher authorities and generals.(1)

1. In 1910 bought Turkey from Germany the Brandenburg-class battleships Kurfürst Friedrich Wilhelm (renamed Barbaros Hayreddin) and Weissenburg (renamed Turgut Reis).
