An item dated Hanoi, 20th reported that on Friday 17th French naval forces sunk two Thai warships were sunk and damaged a third one in the Gulf of Thailand. The French suffered none loses.(1)

1. The battle of Ko Chang in which 2 Thai torpedo boats Chonburi and Songkia were sunk and the heavily damaged coast defence ship Thonburi grounded in the entrance of the Chanthaburi. The French light cruiser was damaged. The French naval force consisted of the cruiser Lamotte-Picquet and the avisos Dumont d’Urville, Amiral Charner, Tahure and Marne.
