An item dated Hamburg, Germany 19th reported the arrival on the Elbe, Germany of M. Swen with 71 quardelen, T. Swen with 55 quardelen and H. Carel with 22 quardelen seal blubber, returning from Greenland. They stated that the combined catch of the 32 seal hunters was 876 quardelen. The commandeurs J. Hasselman, P. Hagenau and J. Bornhold lost each a boat. They left the Elbe on 23rd March arriving at the ice on 72 degrees on 9th April returning home on 27th June. They could not supply any details about the seal hunters which also served as whalers. Nothing was know about the whaling in particular. It was suspected that the ships went to higher degrees. Bound homewards met the commandeurs on the lower degrees a lot of southern winds and foggy weather.
