Laid down by Kawasaki Heavy Industries for account of Kobe Sanbashi (Kobe Pier Co. (k.K.) on 25 October 1938, launched and christened on 13 December 1939, completed on 28 February 1940, requisitioned by the Japanese navy on 18 August 1941, start conversion at Naniwa Dockyard, Osaka, Japan into a naval auxiliary on 25 August 1941, added to the Kure District on 5 September 1941, completed on 24 September 1941, involved in the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 and finally during an air attack by bombers by the American air craft carrier USS Yorktown north west off Fefan Island, Truk Lagoon on 17 February 1944 just missed by a bomb but sunk the next day. Range with an oil fuel bunker capacity of 1.630 tons and a speed of 15 knots 18.500 nautical miles. Diesel machinery. Gross register tonnage 1.020 tons, deadweight 1.373 tons and as dimensions 503 (between perpendiculars) x 65 x 11 (light)-29.6 (loaded) feet. Speed 15 (cruising)-18 (maximum) knots.
