Auction of 1/32 share in the Dutch whaler ‘t Wapen van Amsterdam in 1733


Auction at the Nieuwezyds Heeren Loogement, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Amsterdam on Monday 16 March 1733 of 1/32 share in the Dutch whaler ‘t Wapen van Amsterdam, commandeur Cornelis Kales, 6 boats, bound for Davis Strait, built in 1708, dimensions 111 x 27.1½ x 11.9 feet. Bookkeepers Jan Hooft en Zoon. Sold for 501 Dutch guilders to Jan Hooft.(1)

1. Active as commandeur 1729-1733 for Jan Hoofd en Zoon, Westzaan, Netherlands in the Davis Straat whaling and catch results in 1933 1 whale and 12 barrels whale blubber, in his entire career as commandeur 6 whales, 362 barrels whale blubber. Alphabetische naam-lyst van alle de Groenlandsche en Straat-Davidsche Commandeurs die sedert het jaar 1700 op Groenland en sedert het jaar 1719 op de Straat Davis etc. Gerret van Sant.
