Building of French submarines Gustave Zédé and Néréide to begun according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1911 No. 4

An item reported that the naval arsenal at Cherbourg, France was ordered to start immediately with the building of the submarines Gustave Cédé (1) and Néreide (2) with a length of 70 metres and a displacement of 740 (surfaced)-1.000 tons and which to be the largest submarines until then built. Surfaced speed was 18 knots.
