German Greenland seal hunter Jan Jaspers returned according to the Dutch newspaper Leydse courant dated 24 June 1739

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 22 June reported the arrival on the Elbe, Germany of the seal hunter Jan Jaspers with 150 quardelen seal blubber. He left on 1 June from the 71 degrees geographical position with the ice still unbroken. He spoke Jasper Mulder who arrived on 17 May at the ice borders and who saw some days earlier a lot of whalers moving to the north but which were not to arrive at the ice before the last of May or begin June.
