An item reported that German naval and aircraft forces were becoming more and more a threat for the Allied convoys bound for North Russia. On 25 May attacked 32 torpedo planes and dive bombers during 3 hours a westbound convoy without much results. An American freighter was just damaged, the enemy however loosing 1-4 planes. North Norway were now around German 20 submarines and minimum 30-40 aircraft stationed. Also their destroyers were active in attacking merchant ship. An even bigger threat was the battleship Tirpitz (1) which harassed the convoy routes between 6-9 March and the other heavy ships (2) at Trondheim or possible Narvik.
