Japanese refrigerated cargo-passenger ship Hakone Maru 1920-1943

Official number 28453. Call sign JHGD. Gross tonnage 19.420 tons, tonnage under deck 8.392 tons, net tonnage 6.307 tons and as dimensions 405.0 x 62.0 x 37.0 feet. Nine watertight bulkheads. Originally strengthened for gun mounts. Coal bunker capacity 2.100 tons allowing a speed of 14,5 knots a range of 10.000 nautical miles. Laid down by Mitsubishi Zosen Kaisha Ld., Nagasaki, Japan on 12 July 1920, launched on 25 July 1921, completed on 31 October 1921 and owned by Nippon Yusen KK, Tokyo, Japan. Requisitioned by the Japanese Imperial Navy as cargo-troop transport (B-APK) on 28 August 1942, released on 19 October 1942, requisitioned by the Japanese Imperial Army as cargo-troop transport (A/C-APK) in 1943 as the IJA No. 5003 and sunk on 17 November 1943 south east of Foochow, China badly damaged during a American air attack.
