Several Dutch Greenland and Davis Strait commandeurs returned according to the Dutch newspaper Leydse courant dated 4 August 1724

 

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 3 August reported the arrival at Texel of the Dutch commandeur Jacob Hugo van der Plas (1) returning empty from Greenland. Further more arrived in the Vlie, Netherlands Jetse Fekkes (2) en Hemme Teunis (3) each with 1,5 whale 80 quardelen returning from Davis Strait without further news. The avalaible lists reporting an increase of the catch results until 30 June with just 6-7 whales. On the Maas arrived Pieter Gerr. (4) and Pieter Gouda (5) each with 1 whale 30 quardelen returning from Greenland, at the time of their departure left the most of the ships the ice. On 1 July left Klaas Hooft (6) the Davis Strait with 2,5 whale and Piet. Baart[sz] Steenhuis (7) 3 whales, loosing contact with the already arrived ships off Staaten-Hoek.

3. Hemme Teunisz, commandeur between 1721-1736, in 1724 for Jean Dupeirou Jansz., Amsterdam, Netherlands 1,5 whale, 90 barrels blubber, described as merchant.
