An item described the American bark Gypsey of 360 tons owned by Messrs. I. Howland Jr.&Co. last reported loaded with 320 barrels sperm oil as a fine vessel. With her outfits was she valued 30,000 US dollars when she departed from New Bedford, USA on 28 May 1862. She was fully insured by offices located at New York, USA.

Shenandoah in the Bering Sea on 26 June 1865. Confederate commerce raider,
launched as the British merchant ship Sea King on 17 August 1863 by Alexander
Stephen&Sons, River Clyde, Scotland with yard number 42, purchased by the
Confederates, fitting out ready on 18 October 1864, commissioned on 19 October
1864, surrendered on 6 November 1865, sold in 1867 to the sultan of Zanzibar Majid
bin Said and renamed El Majidi and finally sunk in September 1872.
