American whaler Phenix visited Payta, Peru according to the newspaper The Inquirer and Mirror dated Wednesday 1 January 1834

An item referred to a letter from Charles Higginson dated Payta [Peru] 15 September 1833 reported the visit at Payta on 21 August of the American whaler Phenix master Wilbur of Nantucket 22 months out 2.300 barrels.
