American whaler Rambler visited Payta, Peru according to the newspaper The Inquirer and Mirror dated Wednesday 1 January 1834

An item referred to a letter from Charles Higginson dated Payta [Peru] 15 September 1833 reported the visit on 4 August 1833 at Payta of the American whaler Rambler master Derrick of Nantucket 13 months out 1.400 barrels oil.
