Japanese forces sighted on the Chindwin river according to the U.S. Joint Intelligence Committee. Daily summary dated 20 May 1942

An item reported that on 15 May several small boats, 9 large sampans and a motor boat ere sighted going upstream the Chindwin 4 miles south of Sittaung, Burma.On the 17th there had still been not any contact with the British forces.
