American whaler Pactolus visited Payta, Peru according to the newspaper The Inquirer and Mirror dated Wednesday 1 January 1834

An item referred to a letter from Charles Higginson dated Payta [Peru] 15 September 1833 reported the visit at Payta on 13 August of the American whaler Pactolus master Grinnell of Fairhaven 6,5 months out 30 barrels oil.
