Australian visit of Italian light cruiser Raimundo Montecuccoli not without problems according to the Dutch newspaper De Indische courant dated 19 February 1938

An item dated Melbourne, Australia 18^th reported that as a result of an insulted Italian anti fascist taxi driver by a crew member of the cruiser Raimundo Montecuccoli an anti fascist demonstration was held and a portrait of Mussolini in public was burned. A crowd was prevented by the police to enter the quay and go to the cruiser. The demonstrators demanded action of the Australian government, excuses of the Italian commanding officer and a compensation for the taxi driver.(1)
