Italian submarine Ferroo 1943 and German UIT-12 1943-1945

Of the Tritone-class or Flutto-class type II. Dimensions 64.19 x 6.98 x 4.93 metres a displacement of 928 (surfaced)-1.131 (submerged) tons. Crew numbered 49 men including 5 officers. Speed 16 (surfaced)-8 (submerged) knots. Range surfaced 5.400 nautical miles/8 knots respectively 2.000/16 and submerged 80 nautical miles/4 knots respectively 7/8. Armament 7-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes (4 for, 2 aft), 1-10cm/4” cal 47 gun on the fore deck before the tower and 2x1-2cm anti aircraft guns. Diving depth 130 metres. Built by CRDA, Monfalcone, Italy. Laid down 2 June 1943 1943, captured by Germans after the Italian armistice of 3 September 1943, renamed UIT-12 and destroyed uncompleted at Monfalcone on 1 May 1945.
