Dutch coastal minesweeper Hr. Ms. Brouwershaven (M 858) 1952-1973


Laid down by George W. Kneas Co., San Francisco, USA as the USS MAS 150 on 7 May 1952, launched on 19 April 1954, commissioned at San Francisco on 3 November 1954, arrived in the Netherlands on 9 May 1955 and stricken on 2 July 1973. Sold to Pounds Marine Shipping, Havant, United Kingdom on 31 October 1974? Part of the Beemster-class, built for American account under the MDAP (Mutual Defense Assistance Program). She was the last of the 14 minesweepers for the Royal Netherlands Navy and handed over by the US Navy tot he Dutch naval liaison officer at Washington H.F.B. Beudeker. Displacement 364 ton and as dimensions 43,91 x 8,81 x 2,51 metres. The 2 diesels supplied 880hp via 2 screws allowing a speed of 13,6 knots. Crew numbered 37 men. Armed with 2-2cm machine guns.
