An item reported that 2 dive bomber squadrons belonging to a American US Naval task force bombed on 4 March runaways of the still uncompleted but usable airfield, tanks on buildings Marcus Island [Minami Torishima, Japan] with the loss of one plane. There were no Japanese aircraft or ships sighted.
